Konsorcium českých firem Vodní zdroje Ekomonitor a Geosan Group získalo na Slovensku dvě státní zakázky v celkové hodnotě 3,9 milionu eur (zhruba 100 milionů korun) na sanaci znečištěných lokalit v kasárnách na severu a západě země. Práce by měly být hotovy do poloviny roku 2023.
V obou areálech slovenského ministerstva obrany jsou půda i podzemní vody znečištěny ropnými látkami. Například v kasárnách v Martině znečištění vzniklo ještě v 80. a na začátku 90. let kvůli nedostatečnému zajištění podzemních zásobníků pohonných hmot, provozem čerpacích stanic a nevhodným skladováním lehkých topných olejů. Projekt počítá například s vytěžením kontaminované zeminy a s čištěním podzemních vod.
Slovenská vláda v roce 2016 rozhodla, že převezme na sebe sanaci vybraných skládek odpadů a znečistěných lokalit po někdejších podnicích a armádě. Práce financuje i z příspěvků z evropských fondů. Loni česká firma GEOtest v konsorciu s jednou slovenskou společností získala zakázku v hodnotě 34,1 milionu eur (881 milionů korun) na sanaci skládky toxického odpadu na okraji Bratislavy.*
